GetBangedOn Dunk of the Month December/January: Blake Griffin dunks on Kendrick Perkins
I would be lying if I said I thought the highlight dunks that we would see this season would be better than last season’s efforts.
I figured that the players would take it easy and not go as hard with the shortened season. I figured that they wouldn’t have the power and the energy left in their legs to posterize a defender.
I guess all of that didn’t matter.
Thankfully, the first month (and a couple days) of the season gave us dunks that made us jump out of our seats.
This month’s “dunk of the month” poll gave us a clear result as to what was the favorite.
Blake Griffin’s dunk (and yes, it was a dunk) over Kendrick Perkins was the clear winner with over 70% of the vote.
Griffin went Mozgov on Perkins but it turned out to be so much more.
Perkins didn’t just sacrifice himself to the dunk, he tried to fight back. Watch the video. Perkins hit Griffin. Perkins did everything he could to stop the inevitable. But somehow, seemingly defying the laws of physics, Griffin powered through the contact and continued to elevate for the mind-blowing slam.
Watch it. Then watch it again. It’s crazy.
